2019 Summer Workshops 

MHCM is expanding its summer programming!  Exciting workshops are all about science, ecology, art and food. Check out our new line-up of classes, workshops,  and drop-in programs!

Baby Moves (Class)

This movement and baby sign language class is designed for pre-walking babies (up to 12 months) and their parent/caregiver.

Friday afternoons from 2:00 pm – 2:45 am every other week in June

Wednesday mornings from 10:00 am – 10:45 am every other week in July and August

Maximum 30 people per class

Free with Museum admission

Yoga mats provided (one per parent-child pair) or you may bring your own.

Toddler Tours (Class)

This playgroup program features circle time with stories, songs, movement and sensory play.  This class is designed for early walkers and toddlers (children ages 2 – 3) and their parent/caregivers.

Thursday mornings from 10:00 am – 10:45 am every other week in July and August

Maximum 30 people per class.

Cost: $5.00 per child, plus Museum admission

Eco Lab (Workshop)

Preschoolers and parents/caregivers will create eco-friendly projects and learn about living things, solar energy and sustainability while having fun!

2 workshops per week:   Tuesday mornings from 11:00 am – 11:45 am and Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm in July and August

Workshop location:  MHCM Pavilion

Maximum 40 people per class.

Cost: $7.00 per child, plus Museum admission

Science Lab (Workshop)

Designed for children ages 4 to 6 and their parent/caregiver, Science Lab will introduce basic engineering, tinkering, coding, flight, robotics and ecology concepts and projects.

2 workshops per week:  Monday mornings from 11:00 am – 11:45 am and Monday afternoons from 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm in July and August

Workshop location:  MHCM Pavilion

Maximum 40 people per class

Cost: $7.00 per child, plus Museum admission.  Includes materials and supplies.

Foodology (Workshop)

In this workshop children ages 4 to 6 and their parent/caregiver will explore the fascinating world of food science.  Wacky workshop topics include bubblegum making, pancake art, pasta dough works and more!

Two workshops per week:  Friday mornings from 11:00 am – 11:45 am and Friday afternoons from 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm in July and August

Picasso’s Palette (Workshop)

Become inspired by famous artists and learn their signature styles in this workshop designed for children ages 4 to 6 and their parent/caregivers.

Two workshops per week:  Wednesday mornings from 11:00 am – 11:45 am and Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm in July and August

Workshop location:  MHCM Pavilion

Maximum 40 people per class

Cost: $7.00 per child, plus Museum admission.  Includes materials and supplies.

 

Free Summer Drop-in Programs

Storytime with Ed –  Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:00 am and 12:30 pm in July and August

Kids Kitchen – Mondays at 4:00 pm at the Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market (Pavilion @ MHCM)

Fertile Minds Gardening Time – Thursdays at 1:00 pm
