My Backyard Adventure

Imagination combined with physical play are what make this gallery space special.

Hyde Park Mastodon

Our twelve-foot tall mastodon is a replica of the complete fossil skeleton that was found in a backyard in Hyde Park, NY. Its climbing structure invites you to explore new heights before sliding down the tube slide. A smaller slide allows toddlers to practice climbing and sliding, too!

Fort Sifter

Part-sand box, part-backyard fort, Fort Sifter invites sand play in a whole new way.

Support and Partnerships

Development and installation of the Hyde Park Mastodon Exhibit was made possible with the generous support of the New York State/DEC Estuary Program, the Hudson River Foundation and the Dyson Foundation.
